CONSTRUCTION / CASE STUDY

Manage projects and anticipate the need for new business

A building contractor and his wife managed a team of seven employees using paper documents and colour-coded folders. He wanted to structure his organisation so he could delegate administration and spend time on business development.

Simplified representation of the system · illustrative data, not contractually binding

01

The starting point

Work was planned day by day according to the weather. Absences, illness and departures changed the makeup of the teams. The owner had to manage these changes while preparing for the next season.

02

My role

I supported this building contractor in creating his Airtable tool, including through video coaching sessions. Three weeks later, his tool was in place. This timeframe describes that specific project, not a guaranteed delivery time for another engagement.

03

The system

The management tool compares the hours of work remaining on confirmed projects with the teams’ available hours. It connects scheduling with the need for new orders.

04

What changes

The business owner has a reference point for knowing when to look for new projects. The tool therefore supports a sales decision as well as day-to-day work planning.

05

Read the figures in context

In my post, the 1,850 hours of work and the 1,930 available hours were fictional figures used for illustration. They are neither measured client results nor evidence of productivity gains.
